ITINERARY

Day 1: Pickup from Entebbe or Kampala and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from Entebbe or Kampala by your Afoyo African Safaris guide.

You will drive west through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, passing traditional villages, rolling hills, farms, and green plantations. Along the way, you may stop in Mbarara for lunch at Igongo Country Hotel & Cultural Centre, where you can enjoy a meal and get a brief taste of Ankole culture.

After lunch, continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most popular wildlife destinations. On arrival, enjoy an evening game drive across the savannah plains, with chances to see elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs, and different bird species.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge and Transfer to Bwindi

After an early breakfast, head to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee tracking.

With ranger guides, you will walk through the forested gorge in search of habituated chimpanzees. Along the way, you may also see monkeys, birds, butterflies, and unique plant life.

After the chimpanzee tracking experience, continue towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha Sector, an area known for its rare tree-climbing lions. During the drive, look out for lions resting in fig trees, as well as elephants, topis, buffaloes, and other wildlife.

Arrive in Bwindi in the evening and check in at your lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Cultural Experience

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers.

You will then enter the forest for mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The trek may take a few hours, depending on where the gorilla family is located. Once you find them, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing the gorillas as they feed, move, rest, and interact in their natural habitat.

After lunch and some rest at the lodge, enjoy a Batwa cultural experience. You will meet members of the Batwa community and learn about their forest heritage, music, dance, traditional lifestyle, and ancient connection to the rainforest.

Day 4: Return to Entebbe or Kampala

After breakfast, begin the journey back to Entebbe or Kampala. Enjoy scenic views of rolling hills, terraced farms, local communities, and countryside landscapes along the way. You may have stopovers for lunch, photography, or the Equator line, depending on timing.

Arrive in the evening for drop-off at your hotel or at the airport for your onward flight.
