Afoyo African Safaris – Booking Terms & Conditions

Booking & Payments

To confirm a booking, Afoyo African Safaris requires a deposit of 30% of the total safari cost.

For certain services such as gorilla or chimpanzee permits, the full permit cost must be paid in advance to guarantee availability.

The remaining balance must be paid at least 45 days before the start of your safari, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

For bookings made less than 45 days before the safari date, full payment is required at the time of confirmation.

Payment methods accepted: bank transfer, Visa credit card, or cash, depending on country of payment. Credit card payments may incur a service fee, for example 3.5%, so clients are advised to check when booking.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellation requests must be made in writing.

If you cancel more than 60 days before your safari, you will receive a refund of 80% of the total cost, less any non-refundable costs such as gorilla and chimpanzee permits or third-party fees.

Cancellation 40–50 days before your trip: 40% refund.

Cancellation 30–40 days before: 20% refund.

Cancellation 20–10 days before: 10% refund.

Cancellation 10 days or fewer before the trip: no refund.

Permit fees, including gorilla and chimpanzee permits, are often non-refundable once purchased.

Alterations by Afoyo / Force Majeure

Afoyo African Safaris reserves the right to modify or cancel your safari due to circumstances beyond their control, including weather, safety issues, or restrictions.

If Afoyo cancels or significantly changes the itinerary, you may be offered an alternative date or safari of similar value, or a refund for the unused portion of the trip.

Afoyo also reserves the right to refuse or remove a participant from a safari if their behavior is judged to be harmful to the group or the itinerary. In such cases, a refund will be made for the unused portion.

Accommodation & Transport

Accommodation is based on twin or double occupancy. Single rooms are available but subject to extra charge and availability.

Lodges or hotels used will be as described in the itinerary or, if unavailable, of equivalent standard.

Transport during the safari may include 4×4 Land Cruisers, minibuses, or other vehicles depending on group size and route.

Afoyo may use trusted subcontractors for some aspects of transport or guiding.

Travel Insurance & Risk

All travelers must have comprehensive travel insurance covering personal accident, medical costs, emergency evacuation, and cancellation.

Afoyo African Safaris can arrange evacuation insurance services if needed by clients, with the fee added to the package.

Safari travel involves risks, including wildlife, remote areas, and road conditions. By booking, the traveler acknowledges and accepts these risks.

Afoyo African Safaris acts as an intermediary/organizer and is not liable for injury, loss, damage, or delays arising from services provided by third parties such as hotels, transport providers, or guides.

Passports, Visas & Health Requirements

It is the traveler’s responsibility to ensure that their passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the return date and has any required blank pages.

Travelers must also ensure they have the required visas for the countries they visit.

For certain safaris, especially gorilla trekking, medical or vaccination requirements may apply. Travelers must disclose any medical conditions and follow health advice.

Anti-malarial prophylaxis and a yellow fever vaccination card are strongly recommended for many safari destinations.

Behavior & Liability

Travelers agree to follow the instructions and guidance of safari guides, especially in wildlife areas, to ensure safety and respect for the environment.

Afoyo African Safaris reserves the right to refuse service or remove any guest whose behavior threatens the safety or comfort of the group. Refunds for such removal will be assessed case by case.

Afoyo cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings. Travelers are advised to insure their baggage and valuables.

Changes by You

If a traveler wishes to change safari dates, number of people, or activities, they should inform Afoyo as soon as possible.

Changes may incur additional fees depending on availability, increased costs, or cancellation/rebooking charges from partners.

Photos & Marketing

Afoyo may take photographs or videos during the safari. By traveling with Afoyo, clients consent to the possible use of their image in marketing materials, unless they inform Afoyo otherwise in writing before departure.

Copyright of photos and materials produced by Afoyo African Safaris belongs to Afoyo, unless otherwise agreed.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Uganda, or the country where Afoyo African Safaris is registered.

Any dispute arising from a booking will be handled by the courts in that jurisdiction, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Closing Note

Afoyo African Safaris thanks clients for choosing them and looks forward to offering tours around Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, DR Congo and Zambia.

For anything not highlighted in the terms and conditions, clients are advised to reach out to one of Afoyo’s representatives for guidance.
